Shalom Schools Open DayFebruary 23, 2017
Today, in partnership with TeenCoders Port Harcourt, we launched a new project called PROJECT BASED LEARNING. #PBL exposes students to 21st century success skills using real world projects. The world becomes the class, the project becomes the subject, the teacher becomes a facilitator and the examiners are beneficiaries of the project.
The theme for the PBL in Shalom College is MY COMMUNITY AND I. The Problem Statement for the project is: What good thing can you do for Rumurolu/Woji Community that will make a difference.
The students have been spilt into 4 corporations/groups. Each corporation has a CEO, a name and a project/product they want to work on.
“One group has already mentioned that they want to work on the black dust in the environment, the cause, the effect and possible the solution.”
For us, as educationists, it is a whole new level of discovery, with these young people. TeenCoders
