Not just academic excellence, but talent development.
To help our students excel in career and life, we don’t just concentrate on academic activities, we partner with both local and international credible organizations to bring to Shalom a series of talent development programs, from personal development to skill acquisition programs.
Recently, we partnered with TeenCoders (Nigeria’s No.1 ICT training platform for teenagers) to teach our students computer programming and android app development.
Subsequently, four of our students (Makwe Kelvin (SS2), Izu Christabel (SS2), Chukwuma Ugochukwu (SS2) and Agbo Jonathan (JSS2)) were invited to the 2nd Port Harcourt Teen Hackathon Camp tagged #CodeStudio2.
Our students were outstanding.
Kelvin built a database driven school attendance/register APP. Christabel created a talking app called MyBuddy to help kindergarten learn about food, fruits, colours, shapes, letters, objects etc. Chuks created an App called Physic101 which helps students to know the basic laws in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Jonathan’s app allows users to share pictures automatically to facebook, twitter, instagram etc.
Makwe Kelvin was awarded the best android app teen programmer and subsequently, invited as a guest lecturer for #CodeStudio3. Kelvin will graduate in 2016 and is hoping for a career in software development. He believes the holistic SHALOM education has prepared him not just for university, but for life.
